Critically acclaimed Argentine producer and songwriter, Gustavo Santaolalla has been busy creating hits. His recent successes include writing the score and co-writing the soundtrack for the box-office hit ‘Brokeback Mountain’. Santaolalla recently received the Golden Globe award for Best Original Song – Motion Picture with the song ‘A Love That Will Never Grow Old’, co-written with Bernie Taupin. The movie took home a total of 4 Golden Globes and has picked up 8 Oscar Nominations, including one for achievement in music written for motion pictures (original score).
Santaolalla’s Bajofondo recently played the Lincoln Center in New York where the crowds went wild especially on the numbers where he hopped on the electric and the acoustic guitars. Bajofondo have had a good run with their first album, ‘Tangoclub’ as well as with the solo spin off album, ‘Supervielle’. Their ‘Bajofondo Remixed’ album is due out in March and later this year we are expecting ‘Tangoclub 2’ as well as ‘Campo’ – the second solo project. Songs from the album have seen much synch success in addition to the crowd-stopping success the live shows have.
Santaolalla is also responsible for scoring several other films, including ‘Motorcycle Diaries’. He continues developing new talent as we can witness with Javier Garcia.
