Gustavo Santaolalla On A Winning Streak |

UMPG is proud to announce that critically acclaimed Argentine songwriter and producer, Gustavo Santaolalla was honored for Best Original Score at the Academy Awards this weekend (achievement in music written for motion pictures) for his work on Brokeback Mountain. His song, “A Love That Will Never Grow Old,” co-written with UMPG’s Bernie Taupin, featured on the Brokeback soundtrack, earned him the Golden Globe for Best Original Song – Motion Picture earlier this year. Gustavo has been with UMPG since 1997.
Santaolalla is also responsible for scoring several other films, including, North Country, Motorcycle Diaries, Amores Perros, and more. He has had songs featured in Collateral, 21 Grams, The Insider, and several commercials. Santaolalla continues developing new talent as is evident with the Javier Garcia and Bajofondo projects.
Santaolalla’s Bajofondo recently played the Lincoln Center in New York where the crowds went wild especially on the numbers where he hopped on the electric and the acoustic guitars. Bajofondo have had a good run with their first album, Tangoclub as well as with the solo spin off album, Supervielle. Their Bajofondo Remixed album is due out at the end of March and later this year will present Tangoclub 2, expected to have surprise guest appearances. Campo – the second solo project is also due out late 2006. Bajofondo’s songs have seen much synch success.
