UMPG Signs Babasonicos |
 |
UMPG Latin America
is pleased to welcome Babasonicos
to our family of writers. Signed out of Argentina
, the exclusive agreement covers everything going forward and most of their back-catalog including many of the hits that placed them on the map. Comprised of lead singer Adrian Rodriguez, Diego Tuñon, Gabriel Mannelli, Diego Rodriguez, Mariano Dominguez and Diego Castellano, this Argentine group formed in the early 1990’s. They had several releases on Sony. Then, at the turn of the millennium they began a relationship with the independent label, Pop Art. It was during this time that their career really took off when the hit single “Irresponsables” climbed to the top of the airplay charts in Argentina. In 2005 they signed a deal with UMG Argentina and the release of Anoche followed close behind. It was an immediate success with record sales reaching Platinum status. Anoche was then taken to Mexico where it received much critical acclaim. Babasonicos performed three extensive sold-out tours throughout Mexico. Highlights from Anoche include “Carismatica”, “Yegua” and “El Colmo”. Through the years Babasonicos have stayed true to their unique style and sound. In doing so, they have been able not only to keep their tried and true fans who have been following them from the very start, but have also grown to have a large fan base throughout Latin America and Spain. The band members have been heavily involved in the creative process of each of their albums, writing all of their own material as well as self-producing. They have also directed 17 of their twenty videos. The band opened shows for the legendary U2
, Depeche Mode, Soda Stereo and Jamiroquai. They also were honored to have Ian Brown (Stone Roses) cover their song “Babasonicos” in his second solo album. Next on the agenda for Babasonicos is an extensive promotional tour of Spain. For more information on show dates please visit Babasonicos’ UMPG Spotlight
