UMPG Inks Deal With EMUSICA |

UMPG recently inked a deal with EMUSICA.
EMUSICA is home to over 7,000 copyrights from the Fania and Kubaney catalogs. The Fania catalog’s many works encompass the very roots of Latin music including Salsa, Boogaloo, Tumbao, Clave, Latin R&B and Latin Jazz, made popular during the 1960's through 1980's by the large roster of Fania artists. The Kubaney catalog contains Cuban inspired music dating back to the 1920’s as well as danceable Merengue tunes and Bachata of the 1960's through 1990's. Some of EMUSICA’s most prominent songwriters and artists include Johnny Pacheco (co-founder of and creative vision behind the Fania All Stars as well as head of the band and premiere songwriter), Tito Puente, Celia Cruz (crowned ‘The Queen of Salsa’ by fans around the world), Hector Lavoe, Willie Colon, Ruben Blades, La Lupe, Eddie Palmieri, Sonora Ponceña, Richie Ray, Bobby Cruz, Charlie Palmieri, Bobby Valentin, Ray Barretto, Cheo Feliciano, Coco Band, Johnny Ventura, Luis Segura and Fernandito Villalona. Among the many chart-topping hits are “Quimbara” recorded by Celia Cruz, “La Murga De Panama” recorded by Willie Colon and Hector Lavoe, “El Burrito De Belen” recorded by La Rondallita and “Moliendo Café” recorded by various famous artists including Julio Iglesias, Ricardo Montaner, Perez Prado, Lucho Gatica, Javier Solis and Azucar Moreno.
The catalog has been heavily sampled including, the Shakira performed, “Hips Don’t Lie” which uses a piece of "Carnaval", a Luis Diaz song, "Un Corazon (One Heart)” by Chelo (Sony BMG) "samples "La Murga de Panama" and Fulanito's "La Novela" samples "Pena Por Ti" by Luis Segura.
In the film world, EMUSICA songs can be heard in Miami Vice, Along Came Polly, Carlito’s Way, JFK, Up Close and Personal, Uptown Girls and An Eye For An Eye. TV shows including Law & Order, CSI Miami, Ugly Betty and So You Think You Can Dance have also featured EMUSICA songs. Advertising campaigns have included a Sears Father’s Day Commercial that had a great response. Upcoming film highlights include Smokin’ Aces and El Cantante, about the successful yet tragic life of Fania's recording artist and songwriter, Hector Lavoe, starring Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony. The Queen, another biographical film, is about the legendary Celia Cruz.
